SIBVAO-CAMEL FAIR' 2023 Livestock Competition: Prices Awarded to the Winners

The competition of the SIBVAO-CAMEL FAIR' 2023 took place in the afternoon of 30th April 2023, in the animal area of the SIBVAO site at the Palais de la Culture of Treichville. It targeted all types of animals present and exhibited at the Show, namely cattle, sheep, goats, and camels.

The approach used is grounded on the following steps:

⇒ A first selection made in agreement with the owners of the animals,

⇒ A technical examination of the animals considering:

  • the animal's compliance with the established eligibility criteria,
  • the animal's behaviour,
  • the animal's body condition and,
  • measurements (height, hip, etc.),

⇒ A parade of the candidate animals in front of a jury of experts.

At the end of the competition, the members of the jury announced this 1st day of May 2023 the four (04) prices awarded to the winners. They are as follows:

  • one (01) price for the camelid family awarded to Mr Baba Aladji Soudou from Mali,
  • two (02) prices for cattle awarded respectively to Mr Aidara Ouédraogo and Mr Boureima Djonogo from Burkina Faso and,
  • one (01) price for the goat family awarded to Mr Ismaèl Coulibaly from Côte d'Ivoire.

To encourage the winners, each of them received a trophy from COFENABVI and kilograms of animal feed from the sponsor IVOGRAIN, the warranty of a profitable breeding.

COFENABVI seized the opportunity to give other trophies to countries for their active participation in SIBVAO 2023 (Benin, Burkina Faso, Côte d'Ivoire, Mali, Niger, Chad, and Togo) and to institutions such as ECOWAS, UEMOA and CILSS for their various support to COFENABVI and the holding of SIBVAO 2023 (technical, financial, advice and encouragement).

Beyond the symbolic nature, the prices awarded to the best animals in the competition are sources of motivation and encouragement to produce quality livestock for the benefit of the entire region.
