The issue of youth employment is high on the agenda of African leaders. It is within this context that ECOWAS, as part of the implementation of its agricultural policy (ECOWAP), has adopted a regional strategy to support the employability of young people in the agro-sylvo-pastoral and fisheries sector (ASPH). In order to put this strategy into practice, engagement programs have been launched with regional professional organizations, including the West African Women's Association (AFAO-WAWA). Despite the political will of African leaders to capitalize on the demographic dividend by investing in young people, the issue of youth employability is still very much on the agenda. For AFAO-WAWA, it is necessary to move courageously towards mass sustainable employment for young people, and particularly young girls.
This 30-month project will be implemented by AFAO-WAWA in 2 countries: Senegal and The Gambia. It will mainly train young people (girls and boys) to enable them to qualify for jobs in the local dairy industry, and to find gainful employment to support themselves and their families.
To contribute to strengthening the technical and commercial performance and resilience of dairy and dairy product value chains.
